International Composting Awareness Week (Sunday 3rd to Saturday 9th May 2009) is a week of activities, events and publicity to improve awareness about the importance of this valuable organic resource and to promote compost use, knowledge and products.
Approximately 60% of the rubbish Australians put in the everyday mixed-waste ‘garbage bin’ could be put to better use in the garden as compost and mulch or could be returned to agricultural land to improve soil quality.

The Shoalhaven Coast wine trail stretches over 100kms, winding through luscious green
valleys and overlooking some of the country’s most pristine beaches.

The area has excellent climatic conditions for producing a wide range of varieties - Chardonnay, Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Chambourcin, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. It remains one of the few regions in Australia where the visitor can meet the Wine Makers - making each visit a unique experience. The region’s commitment to quality and producing premium wines has been recognised with over 1,000 Australian and International Awards for their wines.

The benefits of using Recycled Organics in viticulture are still being examined, but local wine growers have supported Soilco manufactured products. Growers such as The Silos and Cambewarra Estate have been long standing customers and use our products for soil improvement in their vineyards.

To assist in promoting the local wine industry Soilco is a sponsor of this years Shoalhaven Wine Festival. On the June long weekend some of the local wineries will be opening their doors and showing off the finest wines the region has to offer. Purchase a glass for $5.00 at the first winery and then enjoy free tasting at the other participating cellars.
